Stainless King™ Food Jars Thermos Pty Ltd - June 2026

Only products supplied from July 2009 to December 2022 are affected by this recall. Current stock is not affected.

Vacuum insulated stainless-steel steel food containers available in various colours and sizes.

model no. SK3000 – 470ml/16oz Stainless King Food Jar
model no. SK3020 – 710ml/24oz Stainless King Food Jar

Reason the product is recalled

The stopper on affected products does not have a pressure release valve. Pressure may build up inside the container and may cause the stopper beneath the lid to eject forcefully when opened.

The hazards to consumers

Risk of serious injury from impact and lacerations if the affected stopper ejects while in use. Incidents have occurred in the United States resulting in injury, including 3 reports of permanent vision loss after being struck in the eye.

What consumers should do

Stop using affected products immediately.
Check the underside of the stopper to see if it has a pressure relief feature. If the stopper does not have a pressure relief feature on the base, it is an affected product. The stopper is located beneath the stainless-steel lid.
Contact Thermos to arrange a replacement stopper (expected to be available by July 2026). Consumers will need to provide their name, contact details, postal address and a photo of the underside of their affected stopper.
When replacement stoppers are available, Thermos will ask consumers to safely dispose of the affected stopper and send a replacement stopper for each affected product at no cost, together with installation instructions.
Do not use the affected product until the replacement stopper has been installed. Contact Thermos if you have any further questions or require assistance with the recall.

Reason the product is recalled

Non-compliance - pertaining specifically to the packaging

The packaging is missing warning information about:

· the dangers of button/coin batteries to children

· what to do when a person suspects someone has swallowed or ingested a button/coin battery inside any part of their body

Non-compliance - pertaining specifically to the product which does not meet the mandatory standard for products containing coin/button batteries

The hazards to consumers:

· Children are at risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death if they swallow or place button or coin batteries inside their bodies.

· Serious injury can occur in as little as 2 hours and the results can be fatal. In Australia, children have suffered serious injuries or died from swallowing button/coin batteries.
